Terms of Service
Last updated: April 12, 2026
1. What Throwda Is
Throwda is a bill payment service operated via WhatsApp. We let you buy airtime, data bundles, pay electricity bills, cable TV subscriptions, education fees, betting top-ups, and community dues — all from a simple WhatsApp chat. No app download required.
2. Eligibility
To use Throwda, you must have a valid Nigerian phone number and access to WhatsApp. By using our service, you confirm that you are at least 18 years old or have the consent of a parent or guardian. You are responsible for all transactions made from your WhatsApp number.
3. How Payments Work
All payments are processed securely through Paystack, a CBN-licensed payment processor. When you initiate a transaction, you will receive a secure Paystack payment link via WhatsApp. We do not store your card details. Each transaction is charged directly to your chosen payment method — there is no wallet or stored balance.
4. Fees
Throwda charges a small service fee on each transaction. The exact fee is displayed before you confirm payment, so you always know what you are paying. Fees may vary by service type and transaction amount. We reserve the right to update our fee structure, but changes will always be reflected in the payment confirmation before you pay.
5. Refunds
If a payment is successful but the service is not delivered (for example, airtime not received), contact us via WhatsApp and we will investigate. Refunds for failed deliveries are processed within 24 to 72 hours. We cannot refund transactions where the service was successfully delivered — for example, airtime sent to the wrong number due to user error.
6. Service Availability
We aim to keep Throwda available around the clock, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted service. Downtime may occur due to maintenance, third-party provider issues, or circumstances beyond our control. We are not liable for losses caused by temporary unavailability of the service.
7. Your Responsibilities
You agree to provide accurate information when making payments (correct meter numbers, decoder numbers, phone numbers, etc.). You agree not to use Throwda for any unlawful purpose, including fraud, money laundering, or financing of terrorism. We reserve the right to report suspicious activity to the relevant authorities.
8. Limitation of Liability
Throwda acts as an intermediary between you and the service providers (network operators, electricity companies, cable TV providers, etc.). We are not responsible for issues caused by these third-party providers, including delays, outages, or incorrect billing on their end. Our total liability for any claim arising from the use of Throwda shall not exceed the amount you paid for the specific transaction in question.
9. Account Termination
We may suspend or terminate your access to Throwda at any time if we reasonably believe you have violated these terms, engaged in fraudulent activity, or used the service in a way that harms other users or our operations. You may stop using Throwda at any time by simply not messaging our WhatsApp number.
10. Privacy
We collect your WhatsApp phone number and transaction history to provide the service. We do not sell your data to third parties. For full details, see our Privacy Policy.
11. Changes to These Terms
We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of Throwda after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated terms. We will notify users of significant changes via WhatsApp.
12. Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of Lagos State.
